Neff ovens - pyrolyctic cleaning

I've had my Neff oven about 4 months and finally plucked up courage to think about trying the self cleaning function. I've read the instructions and now even more terrified - warnings in red - risk of fire! Risk of burning! Clean residue first! Etc.
Those of you that use this feature please come and reassure me I won't burn the house down and that I don't need to get the oven pride out to clean it first!

the warnings are there to cover their backs, but having said that it would be worth checking there isn't a large 'deposit' that might start to smoke and catch fire?

I've got 2 Neff pyrolytic ovens
They do give off a LOT of heat. We have to open all our kitchen windows & keep the door into the other rooms closed.
Never had a problem with the self-cleaning function at all. You could try the lowest setting first for reassurance.

Plucking up courage to try it - did the other cleaning version first and have wiped any loose stuff out.

Had mine 8 years now.use it 3 times a year it looks like new when I use it. It does give off a lot of heat and does smell the house - my kids says you can smell everything we've had over the last 4 months. Only problem I've had is the light glass broke once.

I've used that function on my NEFF oven about 3 times, I just wish you could leave the metal sides and shelves inside while it's cleaning to save me having to clean them myself.

We've just got these ovens so shamelessly placemarking for tips! Sounds like it works a treat which is good!

I've used it once. I seem to remember it being a faff removing the side shelf supports? Didn't set fire to anything!

Love it. Often do it in the run up to Christmas when it makes the kitchen lovely and warm. Go for it!

We are about 3/4 through the shortest programme. Smells a bit but not too bad. No smoke or flames!
Taking the side rails and shelves out is a nuisance, particularly since you need to clean them by hand but it's easy enough.
We have 2 ovens but I'm only cleaning them one at a time! Other one gets less use so it doesn't need it at the moment anyway.
Should have taken before & after pics.

At the end you'll have to leave it for a few hours for it to cool down, the door will stay locked for some time. You'll see white ash on the bottom, like the remains of a teeny bonfire, it's great!
To make inserting the chrome sideracks easier, you have to tilt them at about 45 degrees, it's a knack that is a life skill & once you've cracked it, you'll be ever so proud of yourself!
